Let's get united in improving the wellfare of less priviledged children in our country Malawi. It is everyones responsibility to taking part in supporting the orphaned vulnerable children. Ministry of Hope through Mzuzu Crisis Nursery is already implementing its programs in the North to bring hope to the hopeless children most especially the infants. The main donors of this cause are mostly Americans but it is high time now that Malawians should get more involved in the cause than our good friends in America. It is our collective responsibility to care, support and protect the children. Recently, we have witnessed a number of local people/groups coming to the Nursery with their precious gifts for the babies. It has been an overwhelming response.
On June 1, 2013 the Nursery was blessed to welcome the group from Katoto Section under St. Andrews CCAP church in Mzuzu. The group was only comprised of the deacons/elders and women guilds. The group brought with them numerous gifts which were very important to improve the lives of the babies and the operations of the Center.
The items included sugar, soap, fruits, platic pants, cloth diapers, toilet tissues, potatotes, lactogen (baby formula), clothes, likuni flour for porridge and many more. The total cost of the items was MK83,500.00 (US$260).
Presenting the items, Mr. Chaura, the chairman of the group, said the gesture was to show love and care for the chidren residing at the Nursery. He said that christians are not only oblidged to provide the spiritual needs of the society but also to assist improve the wellbeing of the less privileged in the society like vulnerable children. The group is aiming at reaching out to vulnerable children to bring joy and smile to their faces. He urged other stakeholders to visit the Nursery and support the children of this country.
The Nursery thanked the group for their kind gesture that brought smile and joy to the faces of the children and employees. It is encouraging to note that even local people/groups are now coming forthwith to support the noble work of the Nursery in order to give glory back to God. The Nursery asked the group not to forget praying for the Nursery and its children including the staff members. They were assured as well that the items would be used according to the intended purposes in order to benefit the children.
